I have no wish to preserve any African traditions even though I respect them for African people. I am an American, and my wish is to preserve American traditions.

If there are some traditions (African, Irish, Japanese, whatever) that people with some nationality in their background wish to preserve in their own home that is their business.

Elder, yours is a good question but unfortunately has attracted some bigoted answers. Paul Y and Bessie H – why comment on a subject you obviously know zilch about? Is that the civilisation you try ram down Africas throat? Seeing this sort of comments truly gives me pride in the values taught me through my African culture and traditions; one of which is tolerance. Fortunately, I know there is a great number of westerners who know better because they have visited the continent and no longer embrace bias. Please don’t make fools of yourselves…I implore.
