Documentary celebrating the University of Alberta’s establishment of the ECMC Chair in Islamic Studies.
It explores what this chair means to Muslims and the wider community in Edmonton and Canada, in terms of the diversity of traditions, cultures and interpretations within Islam. It does this in the context of Muslim settlement in the prairie city of Edmonton, including the building of the al-Rashid mosque, which was the first mosque in Canada. The video also outlines the history of the Islamic civilizations going back to the time of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It features interviews with Dr. Earle Waugh, Larry Shaben and Nashir Karmali.
The Edmonton Council of Muslim Communities, or ECMC, is an umbrella organization made up of 9 communities from the Edmonton Muslim community, including both Shia and Sunni groups, such as the Ismaili, Ithna’ashari and Canadian Islamic Centre. For more information, please see their website:

Brothel is God’s reward to true believers so the one who rewards can not be called God as Bartender. By doing this you have proed you are neither Jew / nor christian / nor Muslim / nor even a Hindu. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) says exactly what Jesus used to say. that Allah does not beget not be begotten. So there is no son of God. One can not calim that Prophets were false. The false were those who changed Jesus Bible. False were those who Hanged Jesus on cross and those were Jews. False was neither Jesus nor Moses nor Muhammad. All were God’s messenger.

Allah is the translation into Arabic of the Hebrew word Elloh and it means “god”. Saying the Arabic word “Allah” does not appear on the Pentateuch is as sensible as saying that the English word “God” also does not appear. “The two words are just translations of the same word”.

Allah (GOD) is an Arabic word derived from Al-Ilaha (THE DIVINITY){(Al (THE) and Ilaha (DIVINITY)}. This word of Arabic language comes from the exact same trunk of the Hebrew word Ellohim which is derived from Elloh {(THE DIVINITY)(EL (THE) and ILoh (DIVINITY)}. Allah is not a “name”, it seems “GOD” in Arabic. As in Judaism, Islam says the name of God can not be pronounced.

It cannot however be denied that islamic culture preserved(and advanced) scientific and philosophical knowledge that xtian Europe threw away when xtianity was forced upon it by the roman empire. Overzealous fundamentalists who insist on reading poetic, cryptic and allegorical texts of whatever religions’ scripture literally are the true threat to humanity.
