The Utah Jazz is on a roll, playing some of the most exciting basketball in the NBA. Young, hungry and deep, the team includes rising stars Carlos Boozer, Deron Williams, Mehmet Okur and Andrei Kirilenko.
Head coach Jerry Sloan has one of the best records in the NBA and he is building a team for the future – the Jazz are serious contenders in the NBA Western Conference.
The Jazz has a winning tradition, built by some of best players ever, including the now-retired hall-of-fame duo of point guard John Stockton and power forward Karl Malone.
Utah fans are noisy. They get into the game and make each contest a memorable event.
The team was born in 1974 as the New Orleans Jazz before moving to Salt Lake City in 1980. They struggled through a decade at the bottom, before emerging as perennial contenders in the late 1980s, reaching the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998, losing both times to the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls.
Throughout its history, the Jazz roster has included notable players including high-scoring Hall of Famer "Pistol Pete" Maravich, one of the most entertaining players in NBA history. In its later incarnation as the Utah Jazz, the team’s main drawing cards have been scoring machine Adrian Dantley, and Darrell Griffith, basketball’s "Dr. Dunkenstein." The team enjoyed an era of near invincibility under the leadership of Stockton and Malone. Stockton is the NBA’s all-time assists leader, whom many consider the best passer ever to play the game. Malone is a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player who averaged 25.0 points per game during his 19-year career.

Utah in an upset, as San Antonio has gotten old pretty quickly. I thought the Spurs had one more title run left in them, but it appears as if that door has shut tight.

the jazz are under rated and not noticed by the masses and the only thing that gets less acclaim than the jazz is their head coach

Well their JAZZ! ! ! How bout you guys win a championship before you start seeing urself as a team with "Winning Traditions".
Even if you win tonight which you wont it doesnt mean anything its not the playoffs……..remember last year……4-1! !

well it depends. Pop might want to tank the game just not to face the suns. maybe maybe not. look at the possibilities
If the Spurs win they are 56-26 and stay #3
If Jazz fall to 54-28 they are still #4 as a division champ
If the Suns win they are #5 at 55-27 but still have home court against the Jazz
If the Rockets lose they fall to #6 and play the Spurs
If the Rocks win, they stay at #5 due to tiebreaker with Suns and Phoenix stays at #6
ways spurs can avoid suns: 1) sas beats utah, hou loses to clips and suns beat port. sas vs hou in that case; 2) sas loses to utah giving utah the 3 seed, hou win. sas vs hou; 2a) if hou loses and suns win, then sas falls to 4 and suns move up 5. i’ll stop here, getting confused

Jazz all the way. I may be biased coming from Utah, but I honestly think the Jazz have been playing much better ball recently and are taking the Spurs tonight. Of course, that could very well place them with the Spurs in the first round…

I gotta go with my Spurs but I won’t say that Pop won’t tank. He’s very crafty toward the end of the season. I would hope they play it out. Since the game is an hour later than Houston/Clippers game it will be interesting to see how the Second half of the game goes.

Yes, the Jazz are a classy organization, but how can you say "winning tradition" when you’ve never won a championship?
Yes, the Jazz are on a roll, but according to your own website "Tonight, the Jazz will be shooting to end a 20-game losing streak in San Antonio".
20 games!
You better pray that the Spurs get knocked out, otherwise you don’t have a prayer of making the Finals.
I’m going to have to pick the Spurs over the Jazz.
