Why do protestants keep the traditions of the people they protest against?

If you know that the Catholic church is not Gods church and their traditions are built on doctrines of men, why then do you celebrate Christmas, Easter, worship on Sunday and every other practice and tradition that "the Roman Catholic church" has made holy? Did the protestants leave the church because they knew the truth or because they didn’t want to pay the papacy? Examine every tradition that Christians hold as holy and you will see that they came from the Catholic church and not the bible. Is the pot calling the kettle black?
Silent-H – You can’t separate the practices from the people. All of these "Pagan" practices are from the Romans who are Pagans.
wrcjmm – I don’t think I have to get my facts right because you are the one who celebrates a holiday that honors sacred temple prostitutes and orgiastic rituals. Having eggs to represent fertillty and rabbits symbolizing sexual vigor and doing it in the name of the Lord. You better humble yourself before the Lord and repent..
Christmas is the winter solstice that is celebrated by pagan sunworshippers.
Baines – Good answer! I see your eyes are open.
Can’t you see that these traditions are not of God. How are you going to serve an organization that is totally contrary to God? How can you accept the practices of a people contrary to God as Holy traditions. Satan can’t give you anything that is good. If you discover the people are wrong then common sense says that you don’t follow their traditions.
Galatians 4:16
16Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
All Protestants –
Galatians 4:9
9But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
Lady Bern04-07-98 – Halloween amongst many others are not on my list but that doesn’t mean they are ok. My list is just an example. The message i’m trying to convey is that "ALL" tradtions that originate with what we know as Catholicism is wrong. You are also wrong about halloween being the worst. It doesn’t involve blaspheming God like Easter. What makes Easter worse is it is a ritual dedicated to a false God and they use the Lords name to promote it.

Christmas, 25th December, was the Roman celebration of the god Sol Invictus, started by Emperor Aurelian. Most early Christian celebrations and traditions were got from Pagan and other beliefs

Actually, you will see that they came from Pagan tradition mostly…

*You are correct sir… The holidays themselves originate in judeo-christian tradition. The dates and manner in which they are celebrated are co-opted from the pagans.

Because Protestants don’t reject everything about the Catholic church. There are just certain traditions or views which they don’t believe to be accurate.

It’s the same reason why the Catholics and Protestants don’t do everything that Jewish people do, even though the Christianity came out of a Judaism background.

Catholics and Protestants have quite similar beliefs, but there are enough important differences that they really shouldn’t be considered to be the same religion.

They just didn’t like being told what to do by a bunch of men in skirts doll, that and priest acting as go between, instead of Jesus as the mediator.

Martin Luther saw the CH for what it was and left, as a result, Protestants took to the hills to study, and branched off into other directions.

Isn’t it great being allowed to read the very book they were told was gods law, yet the Pope in his wisdom wanted Catholics to stay ignorant.

No they didn’t want to pay the corrupt Vatican city, I mean how many Inquisitions does one have to tolerate? It cost a bucket load to burn women at the stake.

You should really read the New Testament. It’s teachings is what Protestants should be following. The New Testament is a different gospel than Roman Catholic Church’s gospel.

Not all Protestants do keep the traditions of the people they protest against. Evangelical Christians do not.

Yes, some Protestant churches did leave the Catholic church because of dues they were to pay to the Papacy. These dues were for Papist dispensations, which were very costly and many times were quite arbitrary as they were left to Cardinals to determine and sometimes Priests themselves. This was a major rift for the Lutherans and the Anglicans.

Historically speaking, not every church was part of the Western Catholic church at any time. In fact, the Eastern Orthodox Church of Constantinople was of greater importance than the Roman church in ancient times. But, it is true that western churches were part of the only church that was at one time Christian. This church under the papacy was to become known as the Catholic church under the Vatican See.

Jer 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
Jer 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Jer 10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go.

I answer for myself and not the whole world of protestants. Okay first Christmas! First of all the Sabbath was never changed to Sunday by God. The one who changed it was Constantine in about 300AD. Easter, another one people make more of the day than they do the supposed Christian meaning of celebrating Christ rising from the dead. Yea they go to church and have a family dinner but it seems to be more about that it is a day Sunday and not an event. Reality check people Easter is a celebration of the god of fertility! But guess what if those Holidays are going to be argued then I am confused as to why I don’t see Halloween on your list. That is the worst of them all.

The Protestant reformation was merely a Catholic squabble. Bible-believing Christians were persecuted and executed by both Catholics and Protestants.

Bible believing Christians have no use for such pagan traditions.
