T/F questions/statements:
1 Dia de los Muertes is celebrated on Nov. 1.
2 No trick or treating in Mexico.
3 Pan de los Muertes is bread of the dead.
4 Music is an important part of Dias de los Muertes.
5 ‘Las Vegas’ means ‘the meadows’.
6 ‘Viva Mexico’ is an important chant during Patriotic celebrations.
7 Mexico’s flag contains red, white, and green.
8 Mexico’s Independence Day is in September.
9 Cinco de Mayo celebrates the defeat of the French Army in Puebla, Mexico.
10 Fireworks are used to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day.
Please help me answer these, since my Spanish teacher didn’t give me any sources to check out for this.
already resolved this question :p i was only checking the answers. and ya i know how to RESEARCH. i am not stupid enough to not google info.

1. Sort of true. In the Yucatan it is 3 days – Altars are set up on Oct 31. Nov 1 is Día de los Angelitos, for departed children. Adults are remembered on the second day called Todos los Santos. (Hanal Pixan is the Mayan name for the holiday)
2. True (this is not a Mexican tradition, you may see parties now but not trick or treating around here. Not in the Yucatan)
3. Yes – a literal translation. It is a sweat bread, sometimes stuffed with cream cheese
4. Not sure. That seems to be true around here. In Merida Yucatan they parade from the main cemetery to the church at La Hermita. In the park beside the church there is a stage and bands playing much of the evening. But I would lean towards false because in smaller towns it really is about welcoming back the souls of the departed and not about the party in the square by the church.
5. True – Las Vegas can be translated as ‘the meadows’ amongst other things.
6. True – In Merida – The evening of Sept 15th theGovernor stands on a balcony overlooking the main square and shouts ‘Viva Mexico!’ 3 times.
7. True
8. True
9. True
10. True and everything else. There are always fireworks.

so i will be getting married this year and our families are hispanic but i like the whole idea of sending the "save the date" cards that is practically all i know of american weddings. I want to hire a wedding planner but i dont know if it will go good with our mexican traditions.. can anyone tell me what are some american traditions? and how i can incorporate both traditions together??

I am hispanic as well and planning a wedding for January 2012 and i am planning my wedding however i want my wedding to be. Why focus on what traditions as considered "hispanic" or "american"? Do what you want, its your wedding.
