How can Americans preserve their culture and prevent other cultures from migrating to America via immigration?

Currently, the American culture is at risk as the Bush administration increases the quotas for immigrants from nearly all the Asian nations. What we’ve been observing is the steady takeover of American culture by these new Asian cultures, which is clearly visable by the increase in the number of Chinatowns and Koreatowns.

What can we do to preserve the American culture?

American culture has always been the melting pot. All legal immigrants are welcome.

Unless you’re Native American, all your ancestors were immigrants – or, in the case of African Americans, forced immigrants.

The American culture is based on immigration. It is no single racial or national origin backround. to stem immigration would be detrimental to the American culture.

This does not meant that immigrants don’t have the responsibility to learn and speak English.

Illegal immigrants, however, are not really immigrants, they are criminals and detrimental to society. Illegals are the problem, not immigrants.

    1) America lost its culture when the native Americans failed to repulse the European hordes.

    2) WASP culture was always a myth. The first congress under the current constitution voted on the official language of congress. GERMAN lost by 1 vote in 1792.

    3) We saw this in the 1870s when all the Chinese coolies were imported to build the railroads.

    4) Seems to me that the culture war is foisted on us by those actually making it a war. Which is to say that those actually warring other cultures id the WASP faction trying to destroy other cultures.

The problem with what you’re saying is you’re biting into the idea that America has a culture entirely separate from the rest of the world. I’ll explain.
When this nation was created in the first place, it allowed free immigration to it for a long period of time. This brought people from nationalities all across the globe, and forged a culture in America that was more of a compilation of other cultures than anything else. Even today, our culture is being slightly modified by the influx of ideas and people from other countries.
My question to you would be, how can we preserve a culture that doesn’t exist in a consolidated form? Culture changes as a result of immigration, I’m not going to say it doesn’t, but is it possible to stop that? We cannot simply stop immigration to preserve culture, we would have to stop imports of pop culture items from other countries, and basically ignore the world at large. But besides that, is it a bad thing for our culture to be modified? America was also founded on the basis of a change in society, should we turn away from future changes? And what have these changes done to harm us, if anything?
Besides taht, I would argue that Asian culture has not taken over our culture, that all you can argue is that we buy many things from east Asian countries and that their pop culture has been integrated into our own. And that in and of itself is not so bad. I don’t see how it’s a takeover, and I don’t see how we can prevent that influx without taking a discriminatory route. European cultures influence our own, as does any country whose people moves over here.
It’s a roundabout way of saying it, I know, but my basic point is that you cannot preserve something that doesn’t exist cohesively, and that it’s a good thing to leave it maleable.

Which American Culture are you speaking to preserve?

We are a melting pot. As far as I can see, the Asian communities are organized, unassuming and they attempt to assimilate. Unlike some other Illegal Immigrants. I like most Asian. But of course you can’t like every Asian. Just like you can’t like everyone in other races. This is a melting pot.

Like the other person said. I have no problem with legal persons entering. It’s the ones that wave their flag in our face and think we owe them something. They consume all of our resources. Have a lot of babies and just crap on our culture.

Asians give back and they have a interesting tradition that is fun to watch. I enjoy their concept also. I enjoy the other illegal aliens concept, but they make it hard to swallow.

There’s no responsibility that states that they speak English. I feel that most Americans agree, that we don’t need to filter through a 100 pages of foreign languages, just to fill out our American forms. And press 1 for English.

    PS.
You people that result in calling people names don’t solve the
issue. Try to conduct an intelligent conversation, without name
    calling. It doesn’t work.
